Ciara Rickert, LCSWA has always had a passion for working with children, adolescents, and families. Ciara graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in Social Work and earned two bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work at Appalachian State University. Ciara has five years of experience working in a variety of mental health settings. Ciara has worked with children with anxiety, depression, high-functioning autism, bipolar disorder, ADD/ADHD, conduct disorder, developmental concerns, focus and attention challenges, explosive anger outbursts, and other behavioral concerns. Ciara has specialized training in grief and bereavement counseling from her experience at Kids Path/Hospice and Palliative Care in Greensboro. Ciara is also experienced in working with children on significant life changes, transitions, and adjustment challenges. Ciara uses a variety of therapeutic treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), non-directive play therapy, emotional regulation, art therapy, movement, mindfulness, acceptance therapy, music therapy, and parenting training. Ciara understands that children have their own unique language and do not always have the words to express how they are feeling on the inside; especially when they experience challenging emotions that may be new to them. Ciara works closely with children and their families to ensure that they find the most comfortable and natural medium in which they can openly express, connect, and process their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
