Corina Relyea

Hello! My name is Corina Relyea, LCSW. I have my Masters of Social Work from UNCG and NC A&T University. Throughout my career I have worked with a variety of people from different walks of life. My favorite part of my career so far has been my time spent working with children, adolescents and young adults. I have worked in school settings, outpatient clinics as well as in the community.

My approach to therapy is warm, affirming and solution focused. I enjoy helping clients learn tangible skills that will help them become in control of their mental health struggles. I am passionate about equipping children and adolescents with emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills. For the younger clients, I use play therapy mixed in with building emotional intelligence. This involves growing their vocabulary to effectively communicate their needs and improve their interpersonal skills.

I help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, behaviors and how to reframe unhealthy thinking patterns. In addition, I assist them in finding their power in the things they have control over during difficult times. Most importantly, I am passionate about supporting clients in finding their own inner wisdom that will help build their confidence in decision making and problem solving. Some areas of presenting issues I have experience with include, anxiety, mood issues, bullying, family dynamic issues, life transitions, sexual identity and sexual orientation challenges, chronic health issues, social isolation, low self-worth, trauma, foster care/adoption challenges, defiant behaviors, suicidality/self-harm and academic stress. I acknowledge that navigating mental health struggles can be tough, but I do my best to make the wellness journey as smooth as possible. I would be honored to offer you and your child mental health support!
